Thailand – the land of smiles, temples, stunning beaches, and delicious food. It’s not surprising that millions of people visit this Southeast Asian nation every year. Each traveler comes to Thailand for their own reasons – some for the nightlife, others for the culture, and some for the beaches. Thailand is a diverse country that never fails to offer endless adventures, no matter what type of traveler you are.
Thailand holds the most crazy days in my traveling. It is indeed a place where you can experience different things , what i meant by that is ….. Yes that part of Thailand lol. I can definitely say that this is the top country that i actually enjoy and had the most fun above anywhere else. why? Ok besides to that part of Thailand that it’s famous for (crazy nightlife), this place has a lot to offer. Traveling around the country would make you realize that it has everything that you need to experience from touring in a day and having fun at night. I will take you to the places i’ve been and to give you an idea where do you wanna go and what to do. I must say i manage to balance my experiences in different aspects of places i visited.
Wat Pho
The history of Wat Pho dates back to the 16th century when King Rama decided on expanding the temple and developing it into a center of knowledge of Thai massage and medicine. Over time, Wat Pho has transformed into one of the most significant cultural and historical sites in Thailand. A unique feature of the temple is its expansive collection of Buddhist images and statues, including a massive golden reclining Buddha that spans over 43 meters and is carved out of a single block of jade. The stunning architecture and designs of the temple highlight the exceptional craftsmanship of the Thai people, with intricate carvings, colorful mosaics, and gilded accents adorning the buildings and structures.
Roaming around this place is one of the highlight of my trip, seeing different sculpture of Buddha is definitely breathtaking.
Khaosan Road
Khaosan Road is definitely my favorite place to chill at night when I’m around bangkok. It is a place where you can eat good food, have a drink and have fun night but not too much fun lol. Walking along the road you will see restaurants, shops, foot massages, bar and some exotic foods (if you have the stomach to try it!). Pad Thai is one of the best street food is there for sure!
For budget travelers, hostels and guesthouses around Khaosan Road offer basic amenities at very reasonable rates. Most hostels also have a bar, restaurant, and organize day tours. The fact that its on the center of Bangkok made it accessible of mostly anything.
Wat Arun
Known as Temple of Dawn. This temple is considered to be the most famous and photographed temple in Bangkok, which features a soaring 70-meter-high spire decorated with tiny pieces of colored glass and Chinese porcelain.
The most magnificent aspect of Wat Arun is its central prang, which stands tall at 70m; it is perhaps the most elaborate prang in Thailand.Wat Arun also has murals in its detached prayer hall, displaying diverse Hindu iconography and the jataka tales of Buddha’s previous lives. The temple also has a vast pagoda shaped area devoted to four Chinese stone statues. The Chinese statues symbolize the four seasons, while the pagoda edifice holds over a million Buddha images. As such, Wat Arun is not only a temple but an amalgamation of diverse cultures and their art.
Sanctuary Of Truth
The first thing that you notice as you arrive at the Sanctuary of Truth is the size of the attraction. It is a colossal wooden temple, and every inch of it is intricately designed with hand-carved art and sculptures. The temple is an ode to traditional Thai architecture, which is why it is constructed entirely out of wood, without any metal nails or screws. The wood used in the temple is teak, which is revered in Thailand for its durability and strength. The temple is also home to various art forms, including wood carvings, sculptures, and paintings. The art forms depict the four main themes of philosophy, religion, and art. They showcase the ancient knowledge and wisdom of the Thai culture and its connection to the universe. Every piece of art in the temple corresponds to a specific aspect of Buddhism and Hinduism, which is why the temple is regarded as a holy place. This place leave me speechless!
Ayutthaya
Ayutthaya was once the capital of the Kingdom of Siam, and its history can be traced back to the 14th century. The various temples, monasteries, and palaces are the remnants of the glorious past of this prosperous kingdom. Start your journey of Ayutthaya with a visit to the Ayutthaya Historical Study Centre, where you can gain an in-depth knowledge of the city’s history. It has several replicas of ancient ruins which makes bring you back to the past more real.
The temples of Ayutthaya are truly a sight to behold. More than a hundred temples are scattered throughout the city, each with its unique architecture and history. Some of the most popular temples include Wat Chaiwatthanaram, Wat Phra Si Sanphet, and Wat Mahathat. These temples will leave you in awe with their beauty and magnificence, and you’ll feel like you’re stepping back in time with each visit.
One of the things to see here is the Buddha Head, nobody knows for certain how the Buddha head became entwined in the roots of the tree. One theory suggests that the tree simply grew around the Buddha head during the period when the temple lay abandoned and overgrown. Another theory is that a thief moved the Buddha head away from the main temple to hide it. Some famous movie are shot in thi place as well like Mortal Combat. Ayutthaya have one of the best ruins i’ve seen for sure.
Phuket
Phuket offers almost every aspects of what to do in Thailand. Its pristine beaches, picturesque natural beauty, exotic cuisine, vibrant nightlife, and rich cultural heritage are some of the reasons why Phuket is a true paradise. The island is home to over 30 beaches, each with its charm. The most famous beaches are Patong, Kata, Karon, and Kamala. If you’re looking for adventure, you can explore the island’s natural beauty, which includes national parks, waterfalls, and elephant sanctuaries. Some of the most popular attractions are Phang Nga Bay, Phi Phi Islands, and the Big Buddha. Phuket’s shopping is also a highlight, from bustling markets to high-end shopping malls. They have temples to visit for a day too. Nightlife and entertainment at night.
The Big Buddha is a sight to behold, standing tall at 45 meters high and 25 meters wide, made of white marble and Burmese jade. The statue symbolizes peace, purity, and enlightenment, attracting visitors who seek inner peace and religious connection. Upon arrival at the top of the mount, You’ll encounter a magnificent white staircase, each step filled with intricate carvings, all leading to the stunning statue. Right beside the statue, you can light incense sticks, donate to the temple, and enjoy a panoramic view of the beaches of Kata, Karon, and Patong.
Phi Phi Islands consist of six small islands, with Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Leh being the main two. Phi Phi Don is the largest and only inhabited island, while Phi Phi Leh is a charming and secluded island that is a popular tourist destination. The islands are home to numerous white sand beaches, crystal clear waters, diving spots, and limestone cliffs. One of the top attractions in Phi Phi Islands is Maya Bay, famously known as the location for the movie “The Beach.” Visitors can also take a boat tour around the islands to explore the caves and lagoons.
Patong Beach, apart from soaking up the sun and exploring the gorgeous beach, there are plenty of other things to do in Patong. Patong also has many cabaret shows, nightclubs, and bars, making it an ideal destination for nightlife enthusiasts. I get to see one of the sports that Thailand are known for Muay Thai and also called “Nak Muay“. Seeing it live is a new experience for me and I really recommend it for everyone to see.
Ao Nang Beach
Ao Nang Beach is one of the Island i visited, It’s not that big but definitely recommended. Ao Nang is located approximately 6 kilometers from Hat Noppharat Thara and 20 kilometers from the town of Krabi. Ao Nang has several famous beaches which include East Rai Le, West Rai Le and Tham Phra Nang (Cave) which stretches to the foot of a prominent limestone range. A Boat from Ao Nang Village can be hired for sightseeing excursions around Ao Nang, Hat Tham Phra Nang and Hat Nam Mao, all of which are only accessible by foot. Other offshore isles such as ko Poda, Ko Kai, Ko Mo and Ko Thap, are popular destinations that can be reached by a rented boat from Ao Nang. An abundance of colorful coral reefs and lovely cartoon fishes make these islands ideal for diving and snorkeling.Ao Nang Beach is a tourist hotspot of Krabi Province.
The Emerald Pool or also called Sa Morakot is a natural turquoise blue pond with fresh water supplied from natural streams coming down from the hills. Located in the province of Krabi in Thailand, it is one of the best excursions in the region. In the middle of a mystical jungle, you can discover two crystal-clear lakes, the picturesque Emerald Pool and the Blue Pool. During a short hike through the forest, you have the opportunity to explore an intact ecosystem.
Tiger Temple is one of the hardest attraction I’ve done when i was in Thailand. Doing this need to have a lot of strength, patience and dedication. The climb requires you to hike 1260 winding steps up and around a limestone mountain to reach it, which makes for a fairly incredible workout. At the top of the mountain there is a large golden Buddha statue. This statue, other temple buildings, and much of Krabi town can be seen from shrine at the top of the stairs. The climb is worth it, and yes I made it alive lol. Just so you know after reaching the top you need to do it all over again to go down so goodluck :). You must experience this and please let me know in the comment how you guys did.
Thailand is a colorful country that caters to all types of travelers from across the globe. Its friendly locals, diverse cultures, and stunning scenery will leave you with memories that will last a lifetime.
